The Vision
I created MemoryTies because I realized something unsettling: the most profound moments of our lives don't usually arrive in neat, organized packages. They surface unexpectedly—while driving, in the middle of a conversation, late at night when a memory comes rushing back. And without a simple, low-friction way to capture them right then, they disappear.
Big tech platforms are great at storing media. Social media is great at broadcasting curated versions of ourselves. But neither is built to preserve the meaning of the moments that actually shape who we are. That's why I built MemoryTies as a story-preservation machine.
At the heart of it is a simple philosophy: Capture now. Enrich later. Reflect forever.
Human memory isn't clean or chronological. It's fuzzy. It's contextual. It's triggered by emotion. I didn't want people to feel the pressure of remembering exact dates or organizing everything perfectly before they could save it. So I designed MemoryTies to work memory by memory, without the need for a strict chronology. If a memory surfaces, you secure it immediately—record a raw audio clip while driving, type a quick note, just get it out. No performance. No polish required. The polish can come later.
MemoryTies isn't meant to be a daily log or a public feed. It's a private vault. A lifelong narrative companion. There's a "magic moment" built into the experience where messy, spoken memories can be transformed into refined, readable stories—without losing your authentic voice. The edges get softened, but the truth remains yours.
Trust and ownership are foundational to me. Your memories belong to you. Always. You can export them at any time as a standalone mini-website. That portability isn't just technical—it's emotional peace of mind. It means your stories are secure, honored, and accessible whenever you need them most.
Another part of this vision that matters deeply to me is what I call shared truth. A single memory doesn't belong to just one perspective. Instead of broadcasting to the world, MemoryTies allows selective, memory-by-memory sharing. You can invite a sibling, a friend, a parent to add their voice to a specific moment—without forcing them to create an account or join a platform. The result is a multi-voiced story. A richer narrative. Sometimes even reconciliation.
What begins as a solitary recollection becomes a living, shared legacy—something that can be passed down, expanded, and revisited by future generations.
That's why I built MemoryTies.
